This is a basic brown and white sugar-based skillet cookie dough that you can flavor as you’d like and mix candy chips into. After you bake your skillet cookie, top with ice cream or a sauce of your choice for a restaurant-style dessert for 2-4 people. This is designed for an 8-inch skillet, but if you’d like a smaller dessert, you can halve the recipe by dividing it all in half and using only the egg yolk from the egg.

Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp butter
  • 6 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • Dash of vanilla
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

How to make a skillet cookie

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Microwave the butter until just melted in a large glass bowl
  3. Stir in the sugars, a dash of vanilla, and a pinch of salt. (If you want to flavor the dough with anything else, do so now.)
  4. Once the mixture is smooth, at the egg and stir
  5. Scoop the flour on to the butter and sugar mixture
  6. Sprinkle the making soda over the flour and mix gently with a fork
  7. Stir everything in the bowl until a dough forms
  8. Add in chocolate chips and/or other candy as desired.
  9. Press the dough into an 8-inch skillet, leaving the surface naturally rough. Sprinkle with extra salt if desired
  10. Bake in the 350 degree over for 14-17 minutes. Cookie is ready when the edges look golden brown and set, and the middle no longer looks wet, but still not quite “done.”
  11. Let cookie set at least 15 minutes before enjoying. We use this time to let ice cream soften for topping
  12. Top with desired toppings and eat with a friend!
